About The Breeder
I first fell in love with Ragdolls as a teenager—even though I only had dogs growing up. My mom was a huge animal lover and really encouraged my interest in raising and fostering kittens. At 16, I got my first pedigree cat (a Himalayan seal point), and I hobby bred her with a Scottish Fold while learning as much as I could along the way.
Later, after meeting my husband Josh, we decided to invest in quality line Ragdolls. That’s when I really started to understand what mattered most in the breed: a soft “bunny” coat, a gentle temperament, and those beautiful deep blue eyes. We began selecting for health, temperament, and structure, and spent a lot of time learning about nutrition—especially raw feeding, which has made a big difference for our cats.
As we continued with Ragdolls, I started looking for a breed that would pair well with them—not in terms of breeding, but as a complementary option for adopters who wanted a similar temperament but a slightly different look. That’s when I got into British Shorthairs.
I first discovered them through a well-known Instagram account and was instantly drawn to their golden coloring—especially the rich orange tones. I get asked all the time if I’ll ever switch to silver or other colors, but the answer is always no. The warm golden colors are by far my favorite.
At first, I was only working with longhairs. I love how they look—like fluffy little lions—but over time I was trusted with a few shorthairs by a close breeder friend, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed them too. Not only are they lower maintenance when it comes to grooming, but I’ve found that the shorthairs tend to be especially easygoing, well-mannered, and pleasant to live with. That said, longhairs are still a big part of my program, and like many of my adopters, I still haven’t decided which I prefer.
One of my biggest goals with the British has been to move away from that more typical “aloof showpiece” temperament that the breed is sometimes known for. I’ve worked hard to focus on producing British kittens that are not just beautiful, but also affectionate, cuddly, and easy to live with.
I’ve prioritized stable personalities and health above all, selecting lines that are consistent and low maintenance both emotionally and physically.
At home, Josh and I run everything together—from feeding and chores to litter training and enrichment. We don’t travel much because we like to be home, and we try not to cut corners. We make careful decisions about where to invest so we can give our cats the healthiest, happiest start possible.
Why Everyone Loves a Cheddar Bear❤️
💛 My Purpose as a Breeder
My purpose for breeding starts with my adopters. I want to raise kittens that fit well into your home—kittens you’ll truly enjoy living with and caring for.
I focus a lot on making sure the entire experience feels smooth, clear, and comfortable. That means being available to answer questions, give direction, and share any helpful information I come across. I do my best to check in regularly and make sure everything’s going well—not just in the beginning, but throughout the process.
I never want someone adopting from me to feel unsure or like they’re bothering me by reaching out. If you have a question or concern, I want you to feel completely comfortable asking. I take those things seriously and I care about whether your kitten is a good match for your household.
Breeding isn’t just about the kittens themselves—it’s also about making sure the families they go to feel supported and prepared. That’s something I take a lot of pride in, and it’s a big part of how I run my cattery.
My Vision
With a positive experience in mind, I want to make sure the kitten I am giving you is healthy, strong and resilient. A surprise condition can make for the worst experience. This would make me incredibly sad whenever I hear of a new owner who has to go through an illness. Live animals can be unpredictable. Despite best efforts, sicknesses and hidden traits can occur.
However, that doesn’t mean I rely on chance and *hope* a kitten doesn’t become sick! Preventative measures involve full PCR panels on all new incoming cats which testes for parasites & viruses. This must be done in order adequately treat illnesses (or retire) well before a cat is bred.
This also means retiring any adult cats that produce issues involving FIP, weakened immune systems, kidney or heart issues among many more.
I do not simply think “It’s okay if the [disease] only affects one or two kittens, let’s keep breeding these parents.”
Responsible breeding to me means protecting pet owners from heartache, even if it comes at a loss.
All my cats and kittens are 100% RAW FED. This is a species appropriate diet! I trust in my kitten’s health so much that I offer an extensive two-year health guarantee. I stand behind my kittens in every way.
I teach my families the benefits of raw and beginning steps!
It’s The Personality That Counts!
And lastly, the cherry on top of a great experience and a healthy cat is a wonderful temperament! Temperament is tricky.
Genes can skip generations, and socialization can play a factor. Its unpredictable exactly which kitten will end up like the mother or father…
From my experience raising aussies, temperament is largely genetic. Socialization is an added bonus, but without an awesome foundation you can only do so much!
This means I need both parents to have outgoing, loving and the cuddliest temperament possible! British are not known for being cuddly. In fact, they are more independent and prefer to come to you on their terms. I have already found that cuddliness runs in some British lines.
My goal is to keep breeding the cuddliest and most sociable, clingy British.
I would never breed a cat that is skittish, aggressive or unable to recover quickly during a stressful event. I want cats that will support my goal and give kittens that make your whole family happy!
Part Of The Family
My cats are raised in my home, with my husband, family and friends who help socialize them when they are old enough. I believe that the developmental period (the first few months of a kittens life) paves the way to how the cat will behave.
Our cats have free access to several bedrooms, living room, dining room and all bathrooms. I do not believe in caging. The only time a cat will be kept in a pen is during initial quarantine and testing, if they have kittens and become territorial or if a cat needs litter habit retraining. Male cats have dedicated rooms.
My husband and I enjoy having our cats interact with us! Not only would we not be able to see temperament well if they were caged, but also their quality of life is greatly affected.
My kittens are exposed to household noises, different people, car rides, daycare visits from family and friends and our other cats to ensure they will have the best stress tolerance ever!
I live & breathe cats, quite literally! My cats are our #1 priority each and every day.
Raised Underfoot
British cats are very gentle and sweet natured. They also tend to be more vocal when picked up, so I especially work on holding them as much as possible.
My British litters are born in my bedroom. This allows my husband and I to have frequent contact and expose them with daily noises.
During week 1: Kittens are just born and fragile. I make sure they have plenty of heat, clean linens and I touch their paws and bellies for short periods of time. I also supplement their nursing with Breeder’s edge and a miracle nipple.
I make sure they are getting fed and monitor their health closely. This is round the clock checking!
During week 2: Kittens have doubled, sometimes tripled in size. Because the kittens start to meow a lot when holding them, I make sure to cup them tight.
I make sure to keep sessions super short, but frequent to build a positive experience. I notice the kittens start to relax and go back to sleep even while I am holding them.
I continue
For week 3: I start to hold kittens for longer periods time, even taking them to cuddle on the couch or bed. I also will take short walks around the house with a kitten in tow.
At this time, I also vacuum around the kittens as well as playing YouTube sound exposure videos on low volume. These activities help a kitten become unfazed by day
I make sure kittens are comfortable during this process and not in distress in anyway as that could have a negative effect on a kitten’s mental health.
During week 4: I take a few minutes a day with a q-tip and practice “brushing teeth”, the sound of the blow dryer, practice nail clipping and practice running a comb through their backside.
I continue to touch paw pads, belly’s and ears to get every kitten used to normal handling. I find much greater success in starting this handling process early.
During week 5-6: Kittens have been moved to a larger play area. They are now learning to litter box train. I play YouTube sound exposure videos a bit louder all throughout the day while my husband is at work and I have headphones on :D.
These videos include children playing, pots & pans, car noises, even fireworks and blow drying sounds. I make a special point to carry kittens around while doing household chores.
While this may take my normal cleaning 10x longer, the value of a young British kitten being so comfortable with being carried is very important to me!
At this time, I also make friends with my kittens. This means not always picking them up or petting them whenever but asking ‘permission’. My kittens instantly adore me that much more!
For week 6-8: Kittens are playing, exploring, climbing and already fully eating raw solid food. They may nurse 1-2 times a day slowly tapering off. I never remove mother. She provides valuable lessons to her kittens up until the moment they leave
At this age I allow visitors such as friends and family to come hold and socialize my kittens. Kittens are being played with, photographed, held and cuddled every day!
During 8-12 weeks: Kittens visit 1-2 daycares of children ages 3-5 owned by a close friend. Here they are exposed to lots of smells, sounds and a variety of supervised children holding them.
Kittens at this age can now play during Kitten Cuddle Bookings. I make sure every kitten is handled safely and does not become overly stressed.
Kittens also get many experiences in a carrier!
During this time, they sleep in the bed with my husband and I. I absolutely love this age where I can wake up to purring faces. I am always respectful of my kittens, while handling them often.
They learn to be ‘manhandled’ in a safe & positive way! By the time they go home to you, they are used to being carried and smothered.
From 12-14 weeks: Kittens have now been spayed/neutered and are ready to go to their new homes. They may have been bathed 1-2 times already, but I also practice calm baths by using a lickable cat treat.
This way kittens associate baths with a positive experience.
Kittens are also used to the blow dryer and a pet dryer box. Kittens are also used to having their nails clipped, their bodies brushed and faux teeth brushing. This is right when the kittens leave me and I am terribly sad without my cuddle buddies!!

The nursery
The nursery room is where kittens are born and live from 0 to 8 weeks.
Each nursing pop up pen has a mom & kittens with their own litter boxes, heating pad, food & water. I make sure to cover the pen with towels and washable pee pads to keep the litter warm and free from draft.
The pop up pens keep mom calm and babies safe. Mom may become territorial and try to move her babies to weird spots. Mom still has break times throughout the day!
Once kittens start walking and need to start litter box training their pop up pens are replaced with acrylic play pens.
The nursery
This is my kitten pen for ages 4-8 weeks. Each litter is separated with their mom and housed in an Amazon acrylic play pen. Each mom has access to come and go as she pleases. Kittens learn to litter box train!
I use washable peepads and flushable cat litter for training kittens. Once kittens are 5-6 weeks I add in toys and scratchers.
Every day I spend at least 30 mins-1 hour per litter handling and socializing every kitten. I do have family & friends come multiple times a week to hold them.
I especially love training the kittens to come to me using Churhu treats. This is one of my favorite tasks as it teaches the kittens it’s okay to climb on me and a feel safe around a human.
Every one to two days I change bedding, scoop litter, sanitize toys, bathe messy kittens and clean up food from raw feeding (it can get messy!). Once kittens reach 8 weeks they are introduced to petkit litterbots and allowed supervised time outside the pen.
Each robot is on kitten safety mode (means I use my app to manually rotate) until kittens are 10+ weeks of age. All kittens go home having used solely the litter robot.
The nursery
My living room is multi-functional. It is dedicated so queens and teenage kitties can roam about freely. They have automatic litter boxes, water fountains and their feeding stations here. They also have multiple cat trees, cat shelves & sleeping spots. I love this set up since my husband and I are able to spend lots of time with each cat & kitten.
Every week I change the Petkit litter waste bin and sanitize surfaces with Purell. I also spend 30 minutes preparing their raw meat for dinner.
Twice a week I steam mop floors, change water fountains and clip everyone’s nails. I also clean cat trees, my couch and wash pillows regularly.

Emma Fraser 20/12/2025I live out of state, so Alfie flew to me with a flight nanny. I have never done this before, so truthfully I was nervous about the process. But Jordan, and the flight nanny were very transparent and had great communication throughout the process. I was reassured knowing Alfie was well taken care of during her flight. The care and love these cats receive in their environment during these first few months of their lives truly shine through. My girl is the sweetest! She loves to play and has adjusted wonderfully with the other animals in my home. She's super cuddly and now even enjoys being held/carried around. I couldn't be happier with my experience and highly recommend Cheddar Bears!!

Alexis DaSilva 20/11/2018What truly set this experience apart was the constant communication. I was updated regularly with the sweetest pictures and thorough updates, which made the wait so exciting and special. Each update came with pictures and info on how their personalities were blooming! I always felt included in the journey and completely at ease knowing my kitten was in the best hands especially since we live in Florida and weren't able to go in person to pick out our new kitten! You can tell she’s not just a breeder—she’s someone who genuinely loves and advocates for her cats. I’m beyond thankful to have found Jordan and her Cheddar bears, and we are head over heels in love with our sweet Audrey girl. She is the most social, loving, goofy, outgoing cat I've ever met 💕 Highly, highly recommend!

Asbah Shafi 08/04/2023Jordan is the best of the best breeder who gives unconditional love to all her kittens. I have the honor to be Dorys (now Seeba) mother and she has been an absolute joy. As a first time cat owner, I can tell you Jordan’s kittens are the best and Jordan gives support in navigating in owning a cat for the first time from the litter box to vet visits to the food to everything in between. She responds immediately and gives through and complete advice. And before getting Dory, Jordan kept me up to date on everything with an album of photos and videos week by week and will answer all your questions. She really means it when she says don’t hesitate to ask. You will never have any doubts with Jordan. You can tell from her detailed website alone that she truly cares about her cats and you. Her kittens are so socialized, Dory adjusted immediately into my home, is confident and owns my apartment like it’s hers day one which is a dream. She is so people oriented and gives nothing but love to me and my family. She follows me room to room, makes it easy to give nail trims, brushing, everything. And she is a lap kitten! Not very common in British long hairs but she loves cuddling, being held like a baby, and begs for pets. If you get a cat from Jordan know that you will be given a best friend for life that will love you to the core because that’s how Dory makes me feel.

Sadiba Nusrat Nur 19/07/2022I got Aloo (previously Nacho the Sad Eye) from Poppy and Cheeto’s litter, and I couldn’t be happier. Jordan did an amazing job raising the kittens—my boy is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and social. He adapted so well to our lifestyle; I love taking my pets to the park, and Aloo fit right in from the start. He’s confident outdoors, rocks his cute outfits, and plays wonderfully with my Ragdoll and Samoyed. Most importantly, he sleeps with us at night, making our home feel even more complete. I truly can’t recommend Cheddar Bear enough! Aloo is a dream come true, and I’m so grateful for the love and care Jordan puts into her kittens. ❤️🐾
